Sitting in a Canadian Starbucks, on an American holiday seems like a great reason to write about the call of God!! It may be more complex than that, but I do want to communicate to you, the reader, a little of my thoughts about what the call of God is, how to hear it, and how to respond to it.
Throughout my life, as a Christian, I have endeavored to follow what I believed to be the 'will of God'. Looking across the vast array of fellow believers, I have seen that the phrase 'the will of God' has been misused. From an excuse to exit an unwelcome relationship, to the cover-up of a poor decision, the 'will of God' has been come a catch all phrase to encompass the things we are not willing to take responsibility for ourselves. Rather than that, I believe that there is a will of God for each individual believer. More importantly, there is a plan that God has for our lives.
Every detail of our lives, from the minute to the grand, has been birthed in the bosom of our Creator long before it became a reality in our lives. It is the daily task of the committed Christian to actively pursue and bring to fruition those things seemingly hidden in the heart of God.
As time goes along, I will map out some things that have led me down the path that I am presently on - Leading this idea, yet in the conception stage,, called "Mission Senegal". Some things go without saying: prayer, fasting, faithfulness are only a few in a long list of things that are necessary if we are to bring the will of God to fruition in our lives.
Let's take this journey together and see what can be done to not only find the will of God, but to find joy in its pursuit!
